Silver and Bronze for NZISA teams
The NZISA Teams finished their 2026 Heritage Hockey Tournament campaigns with the Women’s team claiming bronze and the Men’s finishing with the silver.
The Women’s team playing Fiji Heritage followed up their previous win with another 3 - 2 win. Anjali Panchia opened the scoring but the lead was short lived with Fiji Heritage equalising soon after. Shayna Narsai put the team 2 - 1 up from a penalty corner to lead at the first quarter break. A goal to Sharnia Dhaya sawe the team take a 3 - 1 lead at half time. Fiji Heritage continued to put pressure on the team reducing the lead to one goal at the end of the third quarter but the team held on to see the game out and claim victory and the Bronze Medal
Congratulations to Risheeka Chibha, Shayna Narsai, Molly Wallabh and Devyani Soma who were recognised for their performances being named in the Tournament Team.
The 2026 NZISA Women’s Hockey Team
The Men’s team took on the Panjab Heritage team in a fast paced final. After conceding a goal early the team found their way back into the game with two penalty corner goals to Hiren Mani and Alex Sumenko-Bucknell to take a 2 - 1 lead after the first quarter. The lead remained at half time with the sides trading a goal a piece with Raynish Patel scoring for the NZISA. However the team was unable to convert further chances in the second half with the Panjab Heritage side scoring twice in each quarter to take victory with a final score of 2 - 6.
Congratulations to Sajan Patel, Brett Menezes, Hiren Mani, Alex Sumenko-Bucknell, Kaveshan Karunakaram and Kailin Dayal who had their performance recognised by being named in the tournament team.
