Early each year NZISA hosts a tournament for players under the age of 23. This tournament is a chance for clubs to develop their youth players and challenge themselves against players at a similar playing level, while building friendships with others from across the country. NZISA welcomes all U23 hockey teams, both Men and Women, to participate so get in touch with your local Indian Sports Club.

The annual NZ Indian’s Hockey Championship is the NZISA’s pinnacle hockey event. This tournament sees a Women’s competition run alongside two Men’s competitions, an A and B Section. It offers a great opportunity for the wider NZISA community to get together and get behind their local regions and teams.

The Men’s A Section of the tournament competes for the coveted Dhyan Chand Trophy, NZISA’s oldest trophy and is presented by the New Zealand Indian Central Association. The Women’s section and Men’s B section are also closely contested for their respective trophies each year.

2026 NZ Heritage Hockey Tournament

HOSTED BY NEW ZEALAND HERITAGE HOCKEY

When opportunities arise NZISA has formed representative hockey teams to play in fixtures against various international and domestic sides, for both men’s and women’s. NZISA has played numerous teams and in a number of events including the Pacific Cup in Fiji in 2007, the Hockey New Zealand Festival of Hockey in the Hawkes Bay and recently the New Zealand Heritage Hockey Tournament in Auckland.
